Elmira Abdolhassani (b. 1989 Mashhad) is an artist based between Tehran and Lisbon. Drawing on her background in industrial design and glass art, she works with glass and other materials to explore identity,
human connection and the ways individuals influence one another. Her work engages with glass as a material that is at once fragile and resilient, transparent and opaque, fluid and solid.
A residency in Lybster, a remote village in Scotland, marked a turning point in Abolhassani’s perspective, drawing her attention to the rhythms of nature and the significance of fleeting moments. This experience informed a body of glass works developed over more than three years, in which material transformation becomes a way of considering coexistence, change and renewal.
Abolhassani holds a BA in Industrial Design from Islamic Azad University in Mashhad and an MA in Glass Art and Science Technology from Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. And in 2021, she received an honorary diploma
from the Jutta Cuny-Franz Foundation in Düsseldorf. In 2026, she presented “Vitreous Moments”, her first solo exhibition in Iran, at O Gallery.
